Renzo Piano Building Workshop + Adamson Associates
Paddington Square is a mixed-use development by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, centred around a striking elevated glass cube above London’s Paddington Station. The project includes offices, retail, public realm improvements, and a new entrance to the Underground.
The lighting design team collaborated closely with architects and contractors to ensure flexibility, energy efficiency, and aesthetic harmony throughout the project. Custom lighting elements were designed to align with the building’s scale and urban context, with a minimal and integrated approach for the forecourt and canopy to enhance clarity, safety, and visual lightness. Smart controls optimise usage based on natural light. Artistic and retail areas benefit from layered lighting that supports both function and experience, contributing to the site's identity as a key urban landmark.
